The news that is not White House approved...

Child's Play

Robert Gibbs continues to disgrace the White House podium. In the past he's mocked former President Bush, Governor Sarah Palin and others at his briefings.

Well, his latest target is Arizona Senator John McCain. The senator made headlines this week when he said Republicans will no longer cooperate with Democrats because of how they mishandled the health care negotiations.

And here's Robert Gibbs' reaction to the senator's comments:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PRESS SECRETARY ROBERT GIBBS: I find it curious that not getting your way on one thing means you decided to take your toys and go home. I don't think uh… it doesn’t work for my 6-year-old, I doubt it works well in the United State Senate.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Sadly, this is par for the course for Gibbs. Back in December, he was widely criticized for comparing White House reporter April Ryan to his son. Remember this?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ROBERT GIBBS: Was she at the dinner? April, April, calm down. Just take a deep breath for one second. See? This happens with my son. He does the same thing.

APRIL RYAN: Don’t play with me, I’m being serious. Do not blow it off.

GIBBS: No, I'm giving you a serious answer.

So if you dare to disagree with or question this White house, you're behaving like a child? I think people deserve a lot better and a lot more respect than that.

CAT-Astrophic

Few companies have been singled out by the Anointed One like Caterpillar, which he said would be able to re-hire workers if Congress passed the stimulus bill. Then the stimulus bill passed and, low and behold, Caterpillar laid off 22,000 employees.

Well, now Caterpillar is taking a hit as a result of the health care bill. The Wall Street Journal reported that, "Caterpillar Inc. said Wednesday it will take a $100 million charge to earnings this quarter to reflect taxes stemming from the newly enacted U.S. health care legislation."

As you can imagine, the company is not pleased. A spokesman told the Journal: "From our point of view, a tax increase like this cannot come at a worse time."

Well, Mr. President, I sure hope you keep Caterpillar at the forefront of your PR effort. Sadly, this company perfectly represents how and why your policies, Mr. President, have failed American businesses and the American people.

Secret Society

It's been a week filled with secrecy at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. And the president's claim his administration is the most transparent is history is now laughable.

On Wednesday, behind closed doors the Anointed One signed the executive order that he says will prohibit federal funds from being used for abortions. But as you can see, there's no video from that event, because the administration didn't allow any reporters or photographers to attend. Instead, they issued one single photograph of the signing.

And 24 hours earlier, the president met privately with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. But once again, the press was barred from even capturing a handshake between the two leaders.

I don't know about you, but I sense a pattern developing and it's not transparent.

Speak for Yourself

While all the tax increases in the health care bill may have you worried, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin may be able to put your mind at ease. Like a good Democrat, he explained why all those tax increases are a necessary thing for the country.

Here's what he said, take a look:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SENATOR DICK DURBIN: Yes, if you're making over $200,000 a year, you're going to pay slightly more in taxes. It's the cost, I think, of having the kind of America we want to have.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Just one question, Senator, who is this "we" you're talking about?
