An extremely disturbing video clip has surfaced.

It is from a school in Chicago where there is a fight between rival gangs. There were no knives, no guns, only punches and kicks and wooden railroad ties.

Derrion Albert, 16, was one of the four students severely beaten in the melee. He was hit in the head with the railroad tie and as he lay on the ground, dazed and confused, gang-bangers began stomping on and punching Albert before fleeing.

Derrion Albert, an honor student, was not part of either gang and, according to witnesses, was trying to help a friend and got caught in the crosshairs. He was, as you could see in the video, whacked in the head with the rail tie and as he lay on the ground, he was repeatedly punched and kicked and then again hit with the rail tie.

He died.

I watched that video and thought: What has happened to us? How have we come to a place where the value on human life is so low? How is it that the kids in this video are just standing around watching it or they jumped in and started swinging and kicking at will?

We've all seen playground fights, but when did the line in the sand get not moved but completely erased?

How have we come to a place where, when a kid is holding his head, lying on the ground in obvious pain, it's the norm to pile on and hit and hit and hit and kick and hit again with the rail tie?

How have we come to a place where the reaction of the kids who witnessed this horrifying, brutal killing wasn't tears or even shock, they're cool, collected... indifferent?

What about the kid videotaping it? Can you put down the camera and stop laughing for two seconds to save this kid's life? Nope, can't do that. Have to make sure we get a great clip for YouTube.

How have we arrived at this place? What has caused this?

Is it capitalism that has failed here? Is it the evil greedy corporations? Is it because there's no cap-and-trade or universal health care? Or not enough social justice? Is it because of Republicans or Democrats? Or is it the fact that, just like some our new money, God is no longer imprinted on America.

Instead of being held up, God is being taken down.

The 10 Commandments at a courthouse? That's horrible — take it down! "Thou shall not kill" — too controversial! Can't pray in school; can't sing Christmas carols — that's all offensive.

But we can do this:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CHILDREN: Mmm-mmm-mmm. Barack Hussein Obama.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

And then, a new one that came out today:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CHILDREN: Can we make America better? Yes, yes we can. Yes, yes we can.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

According to a survey, a group now being called "religious nones" (as opposed to atheist?) are on the rise. They project that one quarter of Americans could claim "no religion" in the next 20 years. Right now those who claim "no religion" make up 15 percent of the country and are the fastest growing religious group.

So if those who don't believe in God are growing, what do they fill the void with? Stuff; things; power; careers; celebrities; politicians... government.

Government will solve all of your problems. Put your faith in them, not God.

Barack Obama — remember the Hope poster? — put your hope in him; he'll save you. Charlie Rangel offered this angelic appraisal of Obama:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

REP. CHARLES RANGEL, D-N.Y.: Who is our hero? Barack Obama. Who is going to lead us out of poverty? Barack Obama. Who is going to save the United States of America? Barack Obama. Who is going to save the entire world? Barack Obama. And who do we love? Barack Obama.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

MSNBC practically is the church of Obama, the way they get chills up their leg over him. You have kids singing the praises of Obama to the tune of Jesus Loves Me:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CHILDREN: He said red, yellow, black or white, all are equal in his sight.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

And the other song they mimic is the Battle Hymn of the Republic:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CHILDREN: Hello, Mr. President, we honor you today. For all your great accomplishments, well doth say "Hooray." Hooray, Mr. President —

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Here is a question for you: Why do you think America is as powerful as it is? What did we do differently than other countries? Are we just superior human beings? No, it's because we recognized God's authority and said so in our Constitution: All men are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights.

Whereas so many other countries get it completely wrong and believe human rights are handed down by some government body or government official. It's all about them — not Him. No government can fill the gaping hole inside all of us — only God can.

Maybe we need to stop looking at social justice and start looking at eternal justice.

Let me go back to the Battle Hymn of the Republic — you know, the song where they changed the words to make it about Obama — and my favorite stanza:

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in his bosom that transfigures you and me:
As he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,
While God is marching on.

Let's celebrate our freedom and die for each other's freedom if we must. But let's not kill each other.
