Have you ever had a problem you are too embarrassed to go to the doctor with? You're not alone.
Here are some of the most embarrassing health problems and how to fix them:
1. Bad Breath
Bad breath is common in the morning, especially if you sleep with your mouth open. But some people suffer from it on a regular basis, with an obvious impact on their social life.
Cause: Dehydration, bad teeth, infected gums or too much alcohol. Rarely, consequences include sinus or lung trouble.
Cure: Buy a new toothbrush and also brush your tongue. Improve saliva flow by not smoking and drinking less coffee and more water. If there's still no improvement, see your doctor and/or dentist.
2. Skin Problems
You may feel like everyone is staring at you, but skin problems are less obvious to others than they are to you.
Acne and eczema are among the most common embarrassing skin conditions.
Cause: Acne, scaling or itchy skin.
Cure: Acne can usually respond to over-the-counter remedies — ask your pharmacist, but sometimes you need to see a dermatologist.
3. Excess Sweating
Cause: Perspiration is tends to happen if you're overweight, drink heavily or eat a lot of spicy food — or if you're going through puberty.
Cure: Lose weight, cut back on booze and use a strong anti-perspirant. If this doesn't work, see your doctor.
