The former au pair who was at the Michigan house the night Tara Lynn Grant was reported missing said Stephen Grant betrayed her as police gathered evidence of a murder and dismemberment against him, she told the Oakland Press.

Stephen Grant was to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon in connection with the strangulation death of his wife at the couple’s home north of Detroit while the children were there. Police on Monday announced he had confessed.

"I believed every single word from him," Verena Dierkes told the Oakland Press in an interview from Germany. "But everything was a lie.”

There was no indication the children were aware what was happening in their house during their mother's death, Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said at a press conference. "We've had lengthy conversations with the au pair," he said.

Dierkes, 19, said Stephen Grant rushed to the door as she entered the home on the night Tara Grant was reported missing, “yelling and asking, ‘What the [expletive] are you doing coming back?' because he was saying he thought I was Tara. And it was all something I was supposed to see,” she said.

"He knew how much I trusted him. He knew it. And he used me for that."
