Before you teach people to murder on command, you have to dehumanize the target.

That's why Nazi propaganda (search) films showed Jews morphing into rats and pigs. The same kind of message is being churned out by Islamic extremists, often funded by our friends the Saudis and other Arab allies. Television shows, books and sermons from radical preachers that depict Jews and Christians as vermin help to make the killing easier.

These images apparently filled the heads of the London bombers, whose family and friends say they didn't read much of anything else recently. The same images also clouded the mind of the terrorist who murdered Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh (search) in November. Mohammed Bouyeri (search) admits that he shot Van Gogh 15 times, stabbed him and finally slit his throat.

Here's what he told Van Gogh's mother: "I have to admit I do not feel for you, I do not feel your pain…I cannot feel for you because I believe you are an infidel."

But even this twisted logic breaks down in reality. Among those confirmed dead in the London bombings was 20-year-old Shahara Islam (search). Born to a devout Muslim family, she attended mosque every Friday. Her life was stolen by another Muslim, who was duped into believing he was serving God.

The preachers who teach people to murder without remorse, and the governments who tolerate them, have a lot of blood on their hands.
