NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Motor City's Kid Rock (search) has a new home in the Music City.
The Detroit rock-rapper, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, bought a three-story condo in Nashville's (search) upscale West End area for more than $800,000, real estate records show.
The 2,814-square-foot condo has three fireplaces, marble bathrooms, an elevator and a two-car garage. His assistants started moving him in Wednesday. Friends say he also plans to keep his place in suburban Detroit.
Ritchie has spent a lot of time in the country music capital and had one of the biggest hits of his career with "Picture," a country duet he recorded with another area resident, Sheryl Crow (search).
He's in Nashville shooting scenes for a video by country singer and pal Gretchen Wilson.
Not all of the entertainer's visits have been pleasant. In June, he pleaded no contest to criminal assault after he punched a disc jokey at an adult entertainment club in February.
He was given a suspended sentence of 11 months and 29 days in jail and ordered to complete eight hours of anger management classes.
A civil lawsuit is pending.
Ritchie, 34, was a hip-hop DJ when he broke through with 1998's "Devil Without a Cause," which successfully married hard rock beats with rap lyrics.
