Influential musician Sandy Bull is dead at 60.

Bull died at his Nashville-area home on Wednesday. He had a series of health problems in recent years, including a 1996 bout with lung cancer.

Bull played just about any instrument with strings.

His incorporation of music from around the globe was an influence on the psychedelic rock sound of the 1960s. It also predated the popularity of world music.

Musician Brian Setzer called him a "genius," saying Bull introduced him to many different instruments.

No funeral is planned.
