Former Houston head coach Tony Levine will join the Western Kentucky staff as an offensive assistant and special teams coordinator, a source told FOX Sports Monday.
The 43-year-old Levine spent three seasons as the head coach at Houston and went 21-17. The former University of Minnesota wide receiver led the Cougars to consecutive bowl games in his last two seasons but was let go in 2014. While at Houston, Levine -- who worked as a receivers coach, tight ends coach and special teams coordinator -- was part of some of the best offenses and special teams in the nation, setting several NCAA records. He coached five different 1,000-yard receivers and was part of an offense in 2011 that became the first in NCAA history to surpass 8,000 total yards.
Levine and WKU head coach Jeff Brohm were assistants together on the Louisville staff a decade ago. Brohm just led WKU to a 12-2 record and is 20-7 in two seasons there.
