Cubs face gauntlet of Bumgarner, Kershaw in consecutive nights

Sometimes in a three-game series it's possible to miss an opponent's face. If you do, you consider yourself fortunate.

Over these next two days, the Chicago Cubs are probably thinking of another word as they get set to face two of the best pitchers in baseball on back-to-back nights. On Thursday, the Cubs face San Francisco Giants lefty Madison Bumgarner. On Friday, they fly south to Los Angeles to get a close-up of Dodgers southpaw Clayton Kershaw.

On Monday, the Cubs faced Indians ace Corey Kluber, last year's AL Cy Young Award winner. Of course, Kershaw won the NL Cy Young last season and Bumgarner was a postseason hero, dominating to lead the Giants to a World Series championship.

Before facing Kluber, Cubs manager Joe Maddon joked that his club was moving from "American Legion Week" to "Cy Young Week."

The Cubs barely got by Kluber. Now two-third of the test awaits.
