Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Wednesday's game between the Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks was postponed because of severe weather in the Southeast.

A makeup date has not yet been determined.

If the game is rescheduled for Thursday, an off day for both teams, it would also give the Hawks three games in three nights. Atlanta is already scheduled to visit Philadelphia on Friday and return home for a Saturday night game against Minnesota.

A state of emergency is in effect for the area, as snow and ice has stranded motorists in Atlanta and forced students to sleep at schools.

Detroit's travel plans also apparently factored into the decision.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Pistons were unable to travel from Detroit to Atlanta following Tuesday night's 103-87 home win over Orlando.

Detroit, in addition to Thursday, is also off Friday before returning to the court with a Saturday home matchup against Philadelphia.
