The Toronto Blue Jays scratched pitcher Josh Johnson from his scheduled start Friday against the New York Yankees because of tightness in his right triceps.

Johnson has struggled in his first year with the Blue Jays, who acquired him as part of the blockbuster trade with Miami in the offseason. He is 0-1 with a 6.86 ERA in four starts this season.

Aaron Laffey, just claimed off waivers from the New York Mets, is set to take the ball on Friday. He pitched to an ERA of 7.20 in four outings, two of which were starts, for the Mets before being designated for assignment this past Sunday.

The 28-year-old lefty spent 2012 with Toronto and posted a record of 4-6 with a 4.56 ERA in 22 games, including 16 starts.
