Celtic clinched the Scottish Premier League title on Sunday thanks to a 4-1 defeat of Inverness at Parkhead.

The Hoops were made to wait until the final half-hour for the first goal, but the floodgates opened in the 61st minute when Gary Hooper latched on to a through ball from Kris Commons and fired home from 12 yards out.

Joe Ledley doubled the advantage five minutes later, combining well with Mikael Lustig on the right side before guiding a shot into the far upper corner.

Hooper completed his brace in the 73rd minute, flicking home another pass orchestrated by Commons, and Georgios Samaras made it four with a brilliant solo effort two minutes from time as the Greek striker lashed a shot off the crossbar and over the line from a tight angle.

Aaron Doran capitalized on some slack defending in the second minute of added time to pull back a consolation goal for Inverness, but it would not spoil Celtic's title-clinching victory.

The Hoops climb to 72 points on the season to cement their place atop the Scottish top flight. Inverness remains on 51 points.

Also on Sunday, St. Johnstone and Ross County played to a 2-2 draw as goals from Steven MacLean and Murray Davidson were canceled out by a pair of penalties from Richard Brittain.
