The Philadelphia Phillies placed pitcher John Lannan on the 15-day disabled list with a strained quadriceps tendon on Thursday.

Lannan, who received a one-year, $2.5 million contract this offseason, had a 2.77 ERA and held opposing hitters to a .177 batting average in two starts this season before allowing six runs on eight hits over 1 2/3 innings on Wednesday against Cincinnati.

The 28-year-old southpaw has made 137 career starts with the Nationals (2007-12) and Phillies, going 42-53 with a 4.05 ERA.
