Georgetown coach John Thompson III is not about to pretend his No. 5 Hoyas' game Saturday against No. 17 Syracuse is a run-of-the-mill contest.

Even he acknowledges there is much at stake.

For starters, a victory in the regular-season finale would give Georgetown its first Big East title since 2008. That, Thompson says, would mean "a lot."

And he notes that this game is "absolutely" more special because it will be the last time Georgetown and Syracuse will face each other as rivals in the Big East. Syracuse is heading to the Atlantic Coast Conference, and Georgetown is part of a group of seven Catholic schools splitting away to form a basketball-centric league that will get to take the Big East name with them.
