Former University of New Hampshire quarterback Ricky Santos, the 2006 Walter Payton Award recipient, has returned to his alma mater to become the wide receivers coach, Wildcats head coach Sean McDonnell announced Friday.

The most prolific quarterback in UNH history, led the Wildcats to the FCS playoffs in each of his four seasons as a starter (2004-07).

The Bellingham, Mass., native ranks first in FCS history with 2,140 career plays, third in passing yards (13,212) and touchdown passes (123), and fourth in total offense (14,615 yards).

Santos went on to have a brief stint in 2008 with the Kansas City Chiefs before playing in the Canadian Football League from 2008-12.
