Detroit Tigers pitcher Adam Wilk's first career start in the big leagues came to an abrupt end when he was hit by a foul ball.

Wilk was recalled from Triple-A Toledo before Saturday's game against the White Sox.

In the top of the sixth inning, Wilk was sitting in the dugout and watching his team bat. Prince Fielder fouled off a pitch into Detroit's dugout and the baseball hit Wilk.

Wilk was seen in the dugout hunched over and holding his arm. He was forced to exit the game after allowing two solo homers and just three hits in five full frames.

Collin Balester took over on the mound.
