Renton, WA – Just over one month after the Seattle Seahawks released long-time cornerback Marcus Trufant, the cornerback agreed to terms on a one-year deal to remain in Seattle.
On March 8, Seahawks GM John Schneider announced that the team had released Trufant "out of respect for Marcus and his family... so that he has an opportunity to explore the full window of unrestricted free agency and the options that go along with it."
Those options were apparently no better than the 2003 first-round draft pick's long-time home.
The 31-year-old was limited to just four games a season ago thanks to lingering back issues, during which he totaled 23 tackles.
A Washington State product, over his nine-year tenure with the franchise, Trufant ranks fifth in total interceptions (21) and 10th in tackles (604), and was voted a member of the Seahawks' 35th anniversary team.
He was selected to participate in the 2007 Pro Bowl after posting 85 tackles and seven interceptions -- including one for a touchdown -- over 16 games.
