Dallas, TX – Peja Stojakovic, owner of the fourth-most three- pointers in NBA history, retired Monday after 13 seasons.
Stojakovic goes out an NBA champion, having helped the Dallas Mavericks win their first title last season.
The 34-year-old did not contribute much in the Finals against the Heat, but showed off his three-point prowess in the Western Conference semifinals against the Lakers, including a 6-for-6 effort from behind the arc in the clinching win.
Back and neck issues have limited Stojakovic's production the past few years, but in his heyday the native of Croatia was a consistent scorer, netting at least 19.2 points per game for five straight seasons with the Kings (2000-05).
"Thank you everyone for all the love, I knew it was time and had such a great time. NBA is my love and it will be always," Stojakovic wrote on his Twitter page.
The three-time All-Star ended his career with averages of 17.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. His 1,760 made three-pointers trails only Ray Allen, Reggie Miller and Jason Kidd on the all-time list and his .8948 career free throw percentage is currently fourth in NBA annals.
