For the second straight year, the Washington Redskins placed safety LaRon Landry on injured reserve with an Achilles injury.

"It's not torn, but it is quite sore," Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said. "It has been aggravated. He has been trying to practice. He hasn't been able to play except for a few games."

Landry missed the first two games of this season with the injury, which dates back to last year, and has appeared in eight games this season, recording 48 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks.

But he has missed the last two games and the Redskins decided to shut him down for the remainder of the season.
