The Los Angeles Dodgers did not exercise the contract options for 2012 on pitcher Jon Garland and third baseman Casey Blake, meaning they will become free agents.

Both players are coming off shortened seasons in which they had surgeries. The 32-year-old Garland went 1-5 with a 4.33 ERA in nine starts, but didn't pitch after June 1 due to arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder.

Blake batted .252 with four homers and 26 RBI in 63 contests, but he underwent neck surgery in September.
