Real Madrid might be looking at problems in the upcoming Champions League tournament because of a pesky muscle injury to their star player.
Cristiano Ronaldo could miss the first game of his team's Champions League quarterfinal against Tottenham because of the leg injury.
Club doctors said Sunday that Ronaldo would be sidelined for two to three weeks after injurying a muscle in his left leg during Saturday's 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid.
Depending on the pace of his recovery, he could miss the first leg against Tottenham in Madrid on April 5.
Ronaldo also will likely miss Portugal's exhibition against Chile and Finland this week and Madrid's Spanish league match against Sporting Gijon on April 2.
Madrid's top scorer also was sidelined with a muscle tear in his left leg this month. The injury means that Ronaldo's chances of being the scoring champion over Lionel Messi are all but over as both men are deadlocked with 27 goals.
