NEW YORK (Reuters) - Power-hitting shortstop Troy Tulowitzki secured a lucrative future with Colorado by signing a seven-year contract extension that will keep him with the Rockies through 2020, the team said on Tuesday.
Terms of the deal were not announced, but the Major League Baseball website (www.mlb.com) cited an MLB source saying the extension was for $134 million.
Tulowitzki hit .315 with 27 home runs and 95 runs batted in last season, despite missing six weeks with a fractured wrist and led NL shortstops in batting, on-base percentage, slugging, home runs, RBIs, fielding percentage and double plays.
The 26-year-old Tulowitzki was playing under a six-year, $31 million deal that ran through 2013.
