BOSTON (Reuters) - The ailing Boston Red Sox have placed starting pitcher Clay Buchholz on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring injury, the team said on Monday.
The move is retroactive to June 27, as the right-hander was injured on June 26 while running the bases.
The 25-year-old was named in his first All-Star game after leading the team to a 10-4 record with a 2.45 ERA.
He will be forced to sit out the honorary game with fellow Red Sox All-Stars Dustin Pedroia (foot) and Victor Martinez (thumb).
Major League Baseball has yet to name his replacement.
