JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - Germany and Ghana advanced to the second round of the World Cup finals on Wednesday as Australia and Serbia made their exits.
Germany, who beat Ghana 1-0 at Soccer City in Johannesburg, finished top of Group D and will play England in the second round on Sunday in Bloemfontein.
Ghana, the only African team to reach the last 16 so far, came second and will play the United States on Saturday in Rustenburg.
Australia beat Serbia 2-1, a result which meant both teams were eliminated.
