About the bill

A bill to fund the Homeland Security Department beyond Feb. 27, when the current funding expires. The bill would fund the department for the rest of fiscal 2015, providing $47.8 billion in total. It’s the last of the 12 annual funding bills to be considered because Republicans wanted to use the bill, which funds Immigration and Customs Enforcement efforts, to block executive actions on immigration taken by President Obama in November. The House-passed bill bars the administration from carrying out Obama’s controversial immigration policies.
