Charles Krauthammer said Wednesday on "Special Report with Bret Baier that President Obama seems totally "lethargic" and disinterested when questioned about foreign affairs by reporters, adding, "there's no compassion, no interest, there's nothing behind it."

Krauthammer, a syndicated columnist and Fox News contributor, made the comments after Obama gave a press conference following the US-Africa Summit Wednesday night.

Krauthammer said Obama seemed disinterested in discussing either the situation in Ukraine or the fighting between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza strip, two of the biggest crises in the world today.

"There's no compassion, no interest, there's nothing behind it," he said. "You have to wonder why did he hold the press conference?  I'm not sure that he advanced any issue at all other than to show adversaries, bad guys in the world, you don't have to worry about this guy."

Krauthammer said Obama's detached attitude shows Russian President Putin "he doesn't have to factor the United States in his calculations" when dealing with Ukraine.

"He seemed to have zero interest in the issue and was willing to let events dictate," he said. "This is really unbelievable. This is Russia. The one country that can deter Russia is ultimately the United States, and we're just saying we're going to watch."
