Reporters Without Borders: WikiLeaks Was Reckless

LONDON -- Reporters Without Borders has criticized WikiLeaks, saying the group showed "incredible irresponsibility" in publishing the secret Afghan war documents.

The international media watchdog said Thursday that while the whistleblower group had often played a useful role, revealing the identity of Afghan informants "is highly dangerous."

WikiLeaks has come under pressure from the Pentagon and others for allegedly revealing the names of those collaborating with NATO against the Taliban in 77,000 leaked documents published to the Web last month.

On Thursday, WikiLeaks spokesman Julian Assange acknowledged that some of the criticisms leveled at his group were legitimate.

But he also said many were parroting the Pentagon's attacks instead of focusing on the content of the reports themselves.
