As I’ve analyzed the field of viable presidential candidates for the past year, I’ve been in search of a conservative leader with three vital qualities -- experience, an abiding belief in the American people, and a clear vision for our future.

I am certain now that Marco Rubio is that candidate – a next-generation conservative who speaks to our better angels, has fought many of the same fights that I have, and has the mettle to lead our nation.

Marco is a leader who can unite conservatives and inspire all people. He was elected Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives by his peers, demonstrating that he is a leader among leaders.

During his 5 years in the U.S. Senate he’s shown the fortitude we expect in a president, calling out the Obama White House when it is wrong and pushing back against special interests that don’t have our interests at heart.

Like me, Marco believes deeply that the best days for our nation are always ahead of us, not in our past. Most important, he believes in the fundamental goodness of the American people and that throughout our 239 year experiment to form a more perfect union, America has done more good for the world than bad.

Marco is effective, developing thoughtful policy initiatives and building broad coalitions on issues ranging from reducing the size of government to championing tax reform.

He is credited with authoring the single most significant ObamaCare reform since its passage – ending taxpayer funded bailouts of insurance companies who lose money under the program.   He has demonstrated an ability to lead and has acquired the experience to hone his innate talents.

What’s far more important than experience alone however, is a belief not just in America, but in the American people. Too often I hear pundits and leaders speak in terms of the inevitable decline of our nation and without hope for the next generation of Americans.

Like me, Marco believes deeply that the best days for our nation are always ahead of us, not in our past. Most important, he believes in the fundamental goodness of the American people and that throughout our 239 year experiment to form a more perfect union, America has done more good for the world than bad.

The American people have done more to advance the cause of freedom and to improve the human condition than any society in the history of the world.

I don’t mean to suggest that America has no wrongs to regret, but we’ve spent the last 7 years apologizing for our history. It’s time for a leader who believes and will remind us that our mark on the world has been and will continue to be profoundly positive.

Finally, I am convinced that Marco Rubio’s conservative vision for the future of our country is his strongest qualification for the presidency.

As the son of immigrants, he has lived the American Dream in the truest sense.

I myself am the grandson of immigrants and have lived the dream of rising from ordinary circumstances to achieve the extraordinary.

No life experience is more transformative and nothing creates a stronger desire to create a brighter future than the realization and belief that the American Dream is alive and well.

Marco Rubio is a conservative leader for this generation and the next. When he looks at the American people, he sees great possibility and knows our best days are just ahead.
