A term in vogue again is "twofer," the political equivalent of killing two birds with one stone. With his nomination of Sonia Sotomayorto the Supreme Court, President Obamagoes one bird better and creates a new category: a "three-fer."
Sotomayor is female and Hispanic, two major constituencies Obama aimed to please with his court pick.

But she was probably also the most liberal of the potential nominees on his short list (which included no men) and that helps Obama restore his good name among the party's left-left wing.
The timing for him was perfect, since he was in hot water with some lefties. No wonder he flashed his trademark 1,000-watt smile yesterday when he introduced the popular Sotomayor at the White House.
Happy days are here again in Liberal Land.
