Already media savvy, Pope Francis is about to get more social media savvy.

The pontiff, who already has a personal Twitter account, has decided to join Instagram, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.

The Vatican’s communications representative, Monsignor Dario Vigano, revealed on Vatican Radio that the pope’s handle will be @Franciscus.

The pope’s Twitter account, @Pontifex, started up in February 2012 and has amassed nearly 8.9 million followers.

The Official Vatican Network also maintains accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, although Francis himself has until now stuck only to Twitter.

The decision to open a new account came just weeks after Francis met with Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom. According to a post on Systrom's account, the entrepreneur said they discussed “the power of images to unite people across different cultures and languages.”

Francis' new account will debut on March 19, the day before Palm Sunday.
