A North Texas church is going for a world record with a massive chalk drawing of Jesus.

The 17,000 square foot portrait was done on Wednesday in the parking lot of the Fellowship Church in Grapevine.

The design on paper was carefully recreated on the pavement just in time for Easter week.

The church can be seen by thousands of people every day peering out of the left windows of planes landing at DFW Airport.

"Easter is always a time of celebration, reflection, and renewal. This giant chalk drawing on our church's parking lot is just a great way to connect with so many people and to remind us what this week is all about. We're excited to do this as we attempt to make history by pointing to the greatest story in history!" said Fellowship Church Pastor Ed Young.

The forecast for North Texas calls for weekend rain, so the drawing likely won't last past Easter.
