Food truck now sells marijuana-infused fare

It seems with pot-infused fare popping up everywhere, it was only a matter of time before it started hitting the road.

MagicalButter, a Seattle-based company that makes a botanical extractor that turns raw cannabis into a substance that can be infused into food and beverages, unveiled a food truck it claims is the world's first pot-infused mobile eatery.

Known officially as the Samich Truck (SAMICH is an acronym for Savory Accessible Marijuana Infused Culinary Happiness), this former school bus painted a bright pink debuted at the U.S. Cannabis Cup in Denver on April 20 or 4/20, widely recognized as national weed day.

The fare offered on the Samich Truck is more than typical munchies like brownies and cookies. Dishes include the Samich (sunbutter and jelly), Bin Mi (Vietnamese style pork sandwich), The Bronco (BBQ pulled pork sandwich), PhaReal Cheese Samich, and Kushie Tomato Soup. 

All products are made using Magical Butter's signature MB2 pot-infusion device the company says any home cook can use. Each food item sold on the truck contains about 30-100mg of THC--the active ingredient in marijuana --which is enough to give you a nice buzz. All dishes have at least one infused ingredient, but some have more than that.  

“Cooking with cannabis in comparison to other herbs is far more challenging,” Chef Joey Galeano of Magical Butter told FoxNews.com. “The challenge comes from properly dosing each ingredient with a delicate balance between taste and potency.”

The MagicalButter in the SunButter sandwich is made from fresh ground sunflower seeds, peanuts, and almonds and infused with MCT cannabis oil to perfect a creamy consistency, while jelly is a “trinity jam featuring blueberries, raspberries, and pomegranates medicated with an essential MagicalButter tincture,” Galeano said.

As for the grilled cheese? Yup, it’s served with an infused, creamy, spreadable cheese.

Geryn Angel, founder and CEO of Magicalbutter, says the company envisions a fleet of trucks in San Diego, Tampa, and Toronto where they can park near beaches and other recreation sites. They also have plans to create a smartphone app that will alert customers when the truck is rolling up to stop near you. 

For now, the Samich Truck is back at the Magical Butter studios in Seattle and will soon be seen roaming the streets of the aptly-named Emerald City.
