Twins give birth to boys on same day one room apart

Fraternal twins Danielle Grant and Kim Abraham said they did not plan their coinciding pregnancies, and certainly did not time their same-day deliveries, but call the coincidence “really cool.” On Friday, April 28, Grant gave birth to 8-pound, 12-ounce Roman at 11:42 a.m. His cousin, Aaron, made his debut a few hours later in the room next door and weighed 9 pounds, 12 ounces, The Asbury Park Press reported.

“People were equally amazed about twins having the same due date as they were that I actually birthed a 9-pound, 12-ounch baby,” Abraham told the news outlet.

The twins, who were born a minute apart and live in Toms River, were admitted to Oceans Medical Center nearly one week past their due date, April 22. They then chose the same induction date, not knowing that neither of them would go into labor before then. A mathematics professor told the news outlet that the odds of their same-day deliveries was about 8 in 100,000.

“We both wanted babies, but we didn’t think we would get pregnant at the same time,” Grant, who is also a mother to a 2-year-old daughter, told The Asbury Park Press. “This was not planned.”

The sisters found out they were both expecting boys at a joint gender reveal party months ago, when they both shot a cannon stuffed with blue confetti, the news outlet reported.

“We just kept one-upping the coincidences,” Abraham told the news outlet. “It’s the best thing in the world. We’re real close and our husbands are real close. The boys will be like brothers.”

Abraham said their mother was going back and forth between the delivery rooms keeping each other informed about the other’s progress.

“We’ll dress them in the same outfit,” Grant told The Asbury Park Press. “We were dressed alike but in different colors growing up, so we’re going to torture them like that, too.”
