Imagine a day simply dedicated to eating pies-- whether it’s a savory pizza or a sweet apple dessert?

This isn't just some pie in the sky delusion. National Pi day is observed every year on March 14 and will be celebrated by pie lovers around the world.

If it's been awhile since your last geometry lesson, 3.14 is known in mathematical terms simply as pi. That marks the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.

RECIPE: HALF-MOON FRIED APPLE PIES

But for foodies around the world, it’s really just a chance to eat, drink and consume more food. Accordingly, eateries around the country are providing specials, deals and more to celebrate the delicious day.

Here are a few original ways to pile on the pie. Just remember, a circle is round and may never end but most of these deals are only good today.

&pizza: Do you love pizza or are you in love with someone special who also loves pizza? If you answered yes to both of those questions, then &pizza in D.C. is the perfect pie shop for you today. Three of the restaurant's locations will convert into mini Las Vegas-style wedding chapels for couples that love pizza and also want to get hitched. Many couples spend months in advance planning, but walk-in weddings are also available throughout the day.

Hungry Howie’s: This chain is acknowledging the day by offering customers one medium topping pizza for $3.14 with any purchase of Howie Bread. The deal is good at participating locations (all stores besides Florida).

Bojangles: Have a sweet tooth? Bojangles is offering customers a chance to get not one, or two-- but three sweet potato pies for just $3.14.

Any customer whose birthday actually falls on the date will receive a free large pizza (just by showing ID). Conrad New York: If you'd rather sip than chew your pie, at the Conrad New York, a luxury hotel in Manhattan, guests can enjoy a Key Lime Pie Martini at Atrio, the hotel’s wine bar and restaurant. Made with vanilla vodka, cream, a dash of lime, fruit syrup and a Graham cracker rimmed glass, this martini could be the perfect nightcap to a long day of eating pies.
