Chicken Divan is a classic Southern casserole that has been reinterpreted by big names like Paula Deen and Rachael Ray over the years.
Fox News Radio host Todd Starnes, a Tennessee native, stopped by Fox & Friends to share his family’s version of this surprisingly simple comfort food.
Starnes says his beloved “Mema,” who turns 100 this year, loves Chicken Divan and the recipe was even published in The Pink Lady Cook Book put out by The Pink Lady Volunteers of Methodist Hospitals.
The casserole includes layers of fresh broccoli, shredded chicken and a creamy sauce.
But Starnes’ Aunt Lynn has a tip that may be a little “controversial” for more conservative cooks.
“Really, you’re supposed to use two tablespoons of dry wine,” she told Fox & Friends. “But that’s okay because Memaw was a Methodist.”
