Fox411: Tarek and Christina El Moussa re-evaluating their marriage, but show may go on
The husband and wife team behind HGTV's "Flip or Flop" announced their separation Monday leaving many fans worried about the fate of their hit reality show.
But the house-flipping experts and HGTV assured fans "Flip or Flop" will continue on despite the pair's impending split.
HGTV told us, "We admire and appreciate Tarek and Christina’s great work on 'Flip or Flop.' When it comes to matters related to their own family, we respect their privacy and honor any decision that works best for them and their children. HGTV is currently airing episodes of Flip or Flop and the series will continue production as scheduled."
The El Moussas told FOX411 that they will continue to work together in a professional setting.
"Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage," they said. "During this process, we are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be. We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together."
"Flip or Flop" is HGTV's second-highest rated show after "Fixer Upper." The premiere episode of a five-episode spin-off that aired in August titled "Flip or Flip: Selling Summer" helped the network land the lead position among cable networks and the fourth spot among all TV networks the night it aired.
The news of their separation comes six months after police were called to their home over what the couple called an "unfortunate misunderstanding."
They said in their statement Monday that police were called out of "an abundance of caution." They say there was no violence and no charges were filed.
The El Moussas married in 2009 and have two children.
