Somebody got the boot Tuesday night in the third week of "Dancing with the Stars" competition.

And it was the celebrity who wears the boots--former Texas Governor Rick Perry, whose campaign for the mirror ball trophy ended quicker than his recent Presidential run.

But the determined politician didn't have any hard feelings as he left the ballroom, having built awareness for veterans' causes and learned how to dance for his daughter's wedding.

With partner Emma Slater by his side, Perry told reporters on Tuesday after the show, "I'm going to go home and enjoy being back with my family. I'll miss the show. I'll miss Emma…it's been a great experience. I'm honored to have been here....this is a first-class operation. I'm privileged to have been a part of it, not quite as long as I wanted to be…[but] I had a wonderful time."

Perry had scored the lowest of all the celebrities during the first two weeks with a 20 and 22 (out of a possible 40). And on this Monday's show, he was the cellar dweller again, tying with Vanilla Ice for the lowest score, a 23. He also badly twisted his ankle in rehearsal.

Six celebrities faced elimination as Monday night's show had awarded immunity to the winning couples in a "Face Off" challenge. Perry was joined in jeopardy by Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Marilu Henner, Ryan Lochte, Terra Jole, and Amber Rose, all of whom had scored higher. And at the end of the night, Perry was sent packing after being in the bottom two with Rose.

But Perry admitted to some disbelief at the end, asking Slater, "Are we gone?"

Now he's looking forward to daughter Sydney's wedding, "a damn big event…in my life….she's marrying a wonderful guy," who is a naval officer in the SEAL Team reserves and Vice President of a real estate company out of Las Vegas, Perry said.

He hopes to dance a foxtrot with Sydney at the October 15 ceremony.

Also, Perry will campaign for Donald Trump until Election Day.

"I was probably more helpful to Donald last night being here [at "DWTS"] than sitting in the audience at the [Presidential] debate because people got to see a Republican that they may have thought was some stuffed shirt right wing crazy whack job or however they like to identify us -- and over the course of the last month, people got to see a person that they came to enjoy being around and saw a different individual that may have been caricatured in the media the last 14 years," Perry opined to FOX411.

Perry didn't watch the debates but saw reports about it and said, "He was measured and calm which I think was a good thing for him…they probably both helped themselves in some way. What was missing from my perspective was there wasn't enough talk about how do we get the economy back on track, how do we secure our country from a safety standpoint and how do we build our military back up. But there's still a month plus to go until Election Day."

When earlier asked by FOX411 if he'd accept a cabinet position should Trump become President, Perry replied, "He knows my passions are with the military and he and I have had a conversation and I said, 'Listen, I love my country and let's win the election first and then we'll have that conversation.' "

During the two hour "DWTS" show on Tuesday night, viewers also saw former pro Kym Johnson substitute for Erin Andrews as host (Andrews is expected back next week) and learned Judge Len Goodman will be taking the next two weeks off to host "Strictly Come Dancing" in England.

In behind the scenes footage, judges were heard dishing on the performances they weren't allowed to comment on Monday night due to the debate-shortened schedule.

Judge Bruno Tonioli complained about Lochte's stilted cha cha with Cheryl Burke, "It looked like she was dancing around a lamppost." But Lochte showed some heart, too, as his 95-year-old Cuban American grandma made an appearance, watching him on "DWTS" on TV and blowing kisses.

Julianne Hough thought Rose's booty shaking salsa with partner Maks Chmerkovskiy was practically indecent, saying she "actually felt a little uncomfortable" watching it.

Cameras caught dancer Derek Hough looking upset when partner Henner messed up during their Monday tango, but he later told her it was a learning experience.

Next week, the remaining cast will perform in a "Cirque du Soleil night" sure to be full of chills and spills.

Derek promised it will be "One of the biggest shows 'DWTS' has ever put on."
