Charlie Sheen is using his bombshell HIV-positive diagnosis to promote sexual health in a powerful condom spot.

The 50-year-old actor, who went public with his diagnosis last November, is the new face of Hex condoms, which are made by the Swedish company, Lelo.

“I think that people associate the word 'condom' with less pleasure, with less connection,” a serious-looking Sheen says in a promotional video. “What may feel like five seconds of an inconvenience or a halted or thwarted moment can absolutely prevent a lifetime of potential grief and suffering.”

He added, “It’s a dialogue people don’t want to have. A lot has to do with that fantasy belief that that could never happen to them and that’s something I can speak to. I pretty much felt the same way: ‘That stuff’s for other people.’”

Sheen said that when he went public with his diagnosis, people’s online searches on the disease and virus went into the millions and “dialogues started taking place – people coming out of the shadow and walking through the fear.” He said there was a sense of relief as well.

“That was powerful,” he said.

He added: “There’s an odd combination now of people still wanting to be like me or experiencing my life, but there’s a little detail they want no part of. So they can avoid that by using this!”

Sheen shared the video on Twitter, writing: “Times are changing. What do I think of condoms? Well, as they say, youth is wasted on the young.”

The former “Two-and-a-Half Men” actor told People magazine earlier this week that he believes that every he’s done professionally, “to garner such attention and fanfare and whatever else – good or bad – was sort of leading to a greater calling, a deeper calling, rather than fiction.”

“I don't think it's ever a bad time to be an advocate for something like this,” he said. “I did use them a lot. But, you know, those few times ...”
