In the FOXlight: 'Legends & Lies: The Patriots' Tells the Tale of Our Founding Fathers

The first season of FOX News Channel's "Legends & Lies" focused on the real-life stories that inspired your favorite Wild West folk heroes, but this time around, the show is setting its sights on our Founding Fathers.

"This season is a little more epic in the sense that it's kind of a continuing narrative," says Sam Dolan, the supervising producer of "Legends & Lies: The Patriots." "We cover about 60 years of history from the 1760s to the 1820s, and we follow a lot of our main characters — John Adams, George Washington — throughout that period of time."

But why this particular era of American history? And why now? Well, according to executive producer Bill O'Reilly, it was the obvious choice considering the upcoming election.

"We need to get back to the people who were running the country when it first started: what they believed, and how they conducted themselves," explains O'Reilly to FNC correspondent Michael Tammero.
