Rubén Blades is stepping into the post-apocalyptic world of “The Walking Dead.”

The Panamanian singer has joined the cast of AMC’s upcoming “Fear the Walking Dead,” a spin-off of the hit zombie show, as a series regular, Deadline reported.

He joins previously announced cast members Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey. Blades will play Daniel, the father of Ofelia, played by "Chuck" actress Mercedes Mason

“Fear the Walking Dead” is a companion series for AMC’s highly popular “The Walking Dead.” It is set in Los Angeles (though shot in Vancouver and LA) and focuses on a different set of characters and storylines.

It already has been picked up for two seasons by AMC, according to Deadline.

Blades' most recent release as an actor was in 2013's “The Counselor,” alongside Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt.

According to IMDB, Blades recently completed filming “Hands of Stone,” the story of legendary boxer Roberto "Manos de Piedra" Durán and his trainer Ray Arcel. Robert De Niro and Edgar Ramirez play the leading roles.
