A group of Christian hip-hop musicians is suing pop singer Katy Perry and her record label in federal court in St. Louis, claiming that the hit song "Dark Horse" infringes on their copyright of a 2008 song.
The lawsuit was filed Tuesday by musicians Marcus Gray and Chike Ojukwu of St. Louis as well as Lecrae Moore of Atlanta and Emanuel Lambert of Aldan, Pennsylvania. Gray goes by the stage name Flame.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Capitol Records, rapper Juicy J, producers Dr. Luke and Cirkut and songwriters Max Martin and Sarah Theresa Hudson are also named in the lawsuit. It alleges that Perry's 2013 pop hit was based on the gospel song "Joyful Noise."
Perry's publicist did not return a message from the newspaper seeking comment.
