By now, most everyone who uses the internet, watches television or is not entirely a hermit is well aware of John Travolta's bewildering gaffe at the Oscars, when he mispronounced Idina Menzel's name as "Adele Dazeem."
His horrendous butchering of the "Let It Go" performer's introduction has already given birth to a fake Twitter account, a couple of funny photo memes, and a John Travolta name generator (courtesy of Slate) that's already been utilized by actresses Anna Kendrick, Jessica Biel and Kat Dennings (aka "Anya Keezy," Jennifer Borfes," and "Kurt Dorniels," respectively).
But what exactly caused Travolta's mispronunciation? Nobody knows for sure (the actor has yet to comment on the incident himself), but luckily, an inside source has put forth a theory to E! Online.
"He knew how to say her name [at Saturday's rehearsal]," said the source. "No one knows what happened. Maybe nerves just got the best of him."
Whatever the case, Menzel herself doesn't seem too bothered by Travolta's flub. On Monday, all she had to say on Twitter was, "Still pinching myself over my entire #Oscars experience. Dream come true."
Is Dazeem a class act or what?
