Authorities in Los Angeles are investigating the cause of a crash that involved the brother of actress Salma Hayek that left one person dead.

The Los Angeles Times reported Sami Hayek, 40, was driving a 2006 Ford GT along Sunset Boulevard in Bel-Air, a neighborhood in the California city, just before 5 p.m. on Sunday when he lost control, crossed into the westbound lanes and collided with a Toyota Tacoma pickup.

A male passenger, who Los Angeles police described as a 43-year-old resident of Mexico, suffered major blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Sami Hayek, younger brother of the “Frida” actress, reportedly suffered broken ribs and facial lacerations, officials said.

Alvin Javier Gomez, the 20-year-old driver of the pickup, sustained a broken foot. He and Hayek were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been made and the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.

A rep for actress, who grew up with her brother in a Coatzacoalcos in Veracruz, Mexico, has not released a statement.
