The clock starts again May 5 for Jack Bauer as Fox unveils its reboot of “24″ with a two-hour premiere episode.

“24: Live Another Day” will settle into its 9 p.m. Monday time period the following week for the rest of its 12-episode run. Fox is mounting a massive promo push for the return of the real-time drama thriller, the session for which will open Fox’s portion of the Television Critics Assn. press tour on Monday.

Fox is giving “American Idol” launchpads to two other midseason series, family comedy “Surviving Jack” and gritty cop drama “Gang Related.”

“Jack” opens March 27 behind the “Idol” results show. “Gang” kicks off at 9 p.m. on May 20, following the first half of “Idol’s” season finale.

Unscripted series “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey” begins its 13-episode run on March 9, and premieres the following day on National Geographic Channel. Seth MacFarlane’s new spin on Carl Sagan’s 1980 series about science and the universe.

In addition to setting the schedule for the second half of the 2013-14 season, the network has focused on event-izing the two sitcoms, “New Girl” and “Brooklyn Nine Nine,” that will air after Fox’s Super Bowl telecast on Feb. 2.

“New Girl” has landed a rare TV guest shot by the media-shy musician Prince. “Brooklyn Nine Nine” has brought in Fred Armisen and former NFL star Joe Thiesmann.
