People Magazine and Star Magazine battle it out over Gwyneth Paltrow. Is she the most 'beautiful' or the most 'hated?'

Gwyneth Paltrow is the woman we love to hate.

People Magazine named her the most beautiful woman in the world while last week Star Magazine declared the actress the most hated celebrity on the planet. But can she be both at the same time?

Well, it depends who you ask.

“People Magazine chose Gwyneth Paltrow to be the most beautiful woman in the world. I’m not really sure why… It seems to be her whole life is about her own beauty and lifestyle. A lot of people don’t really think about her as the most beautiful person in the world. So it seems like a very puzzling choice,” explained Matt Coppa Deputy Editor of Star Magazine.

But it may not really be Paltrow’s look that got her the title, explained Jamie Krauss PR Director at The Narrative Group.

“…They just pick somebody that has something to promote and is going to give a really good interview,” she said. “That’s how celebrity culture works.”

Krauss added that Paltrow is probably more hated than loved at the end of the day.

“People Magazine’s managing editor Larry Hackett said she was picked because she is so relatable as a wife and a mother, but the truth is most regular people don’t find her to be that relatable. They find her to be a little bit elitist.” Krauss said.

Coppa said Star picked the mother of two to be their most-hated celeb because people are jealous of her.

“Well anybody who’s been through high school knows that being the most beautiful woman and the most hated are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Most of the most beautiful women in high school are not loved by everybody. But what we found in our research was that… a lot of the public seems to dislike her because of her statements. She said that once she moved to London, she found English civilization much more uplifting than American civilization. She said that she basically would rather do crack than eat cheese out of a can. She’s made very puzzling statements like that and it’s all about her seemingly perfect lifestyle.”

He added her website, Goop.com also hasn’t won her many fans.

“[It’s] supposedly for regular women to reach this lifestyle but it often has very outrageously expensive items that you can purchase, like an $800 dollar leather iPad case which is only for the top 1%. So, she tries to be the woman for everybody but the offerings on her site and statements are pretty much just for the very few.”

Then what is it about Miss Paltrow that causes people’s blood to boil?

“She has a smug sense of implied perfection that people find irritating,” said Krauss,

Don’t hate Gwyneth because she’s beautiful.
