A look at Ricky Martin's most memorable moments throughout the years.
Ricky Martin inked a deal with NBC Universal to star in a television series, NBC Universal announced Monday.
The Puerto Rican “Livin La Vida Loca” star, now starring in Broadway’s Evita, will now take his talents to primetime. The Hollywood Reporter said the deal would allow him develop his own show.
"Ricky is an iconic superstar who is as talented as he is popular," Bela Bajaria, executive vice president of Universal Television said in a statement. "Whether he's performing before sold-out concert crowds, or starring on Broadway, where he is currently playing to SRO in Evita, Ricky connects with his audience in a very palpable way - and we are thrilled that he will be adding TV star to his incredible resume."
Martin made a splash on Broadway alongside “Evita” co-stars Elena Rogers, who plays Eva Perón, and Michael Cerveris, who plays Juan Perón. He plays Ernesto “Che” Guevara.
He says playing the controversial revolutionary icon has taken him to "another place mentally, physically, and spiritually.” "I've felt emotions onstage that I never felt before, it has strengthened me as a person and as an artist," Martin said in a press conference in March.
The former Menudo singer also starred in General Hospital before relaunching his singing career.
More recently he’s become a vocal gay rights advocate and strong backer of President Barack Obama’s re-election bid. He also had a cameo on Fox’s Glee.
