HOT SHOTS: Martina McBride
The event is three days after her album “Eleven” is released, which includes the song “I’m Gonna Love You Through it.” Based on the story of a breast cancer survivor, the song and video features multiple cancer survivors and their supporters including Sheryl Crow, Katie Couric, and more.
The video, shot just outside of Nashville, features the celebrities alongside local survivors, each giving testimonial for the video about how cancer affected their lives.
Jason Aldean is also getting involved in the cause, raising $315,000 at his sixth annual “Concert For The Cure” with a sold out show in Roanoke, Va. Proceeds were donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
In other news, we catch up with star of “The Big Year” actor Steve Martin, who’s turned his affinity for music into an award-winning profession. Martin and his group of bluegrass players “The Steep Canyon Rangers” took home “Entertainer of the Year” at the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards. Martin told us all about his acceptance speech, where he jokingly thanked "all the other nominees… for losing”.
And speaking of winners, while we watch how his second single does, take a listen to that first hit as "American Idol" champ Scotty McCreery’s “I Love You This Big” takes center stage as our featured song of the week.
