LOS ANGELES -- Selena Gomez's mother is desperately trying to get her daughter to slow down after fatigue landed the teenage star in the hospital last week, Pop Eater reported Tuesday.
"Her schedule is insane," a source close to Gomez told the celebrity blog of the singer and actress.
"She is one of the hardest working people in show business but now even Selena knows she needs to slow down," the insider added about Gomez, who has a full schedule promoting her film "Monte Carlo" and her album "When the Sun Goes Down."
Gomez, 18, was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital last Thursday following her appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
On Monday, the Disney starlet said she was sick because she was "malnourished ... low on iron and exhausted."Gomez is scheduled to be in New York for a series of interviews Friday and will be up early to perform on "Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series."
But some insiders say her mother, Mandy Teefey, is taking control of her itinerary and hinted she might not end up doing the ABC morning program -- though show producers said she is still scheduled to appear.
"Selena's mom is amazing," the source added, "She doesn't want to be in the spotlight herself like so many other celebrity parents. Instead she just wants to make sure that her daughter remains normal while living such an extraordinary life."
