Celebrities seem to be taking their insensitive pills lately.

Comedian Gilbert Gottfried was fired from his decade-long

job as the voice of the Aflac duck because of his Tweets about the earthquake in Japan, including, "I just split up with my girlfriend, but like

the Japanese say, 'There'll be another one floating by any minute now.'"

He also wrote, "Japan is really advanced. They don't go to the beach. The beach comes to them."

Rapper 50 Cent also weighed in with some tasteful commentary. He tweeted, "Look this is very serious people I had to evacuate all my hoe's from LA,Hawaii and Japan. I had to do it. Lol"

Offensive? Quite. On more than one level.

And last but not least, "Family Guy" writer Alec Sulkin apologized for Tweeting, "If you wanna feel better about this earthquake in Japan, google 'Pearl Harbor death toll.'"

It boggles the mind, but something about this tragic natural disaster -- which may have killed up to 10,000 people -- seems to have brought out the worst in America's rich and famous.

But are the troubling earthquake Tweets more offensive than, say, Kristen Stewart's comment about rape? Or fashion designer Kenneth Cole's quip about Egypt?
