Twitter announced Monday that Android smartphone users can officially begin to download their video sharing application called Vine.

Vine, which launched in January on Apple's IOS, currently has 13 million users and allows users to capture and tweet 6 seconds of video.

This latest version requires Android 4.0 or higher but will not have all of the up-to-date features that the IOS version currently does. But Twitter promises that new Vine features to be rolled out on IOS in the next few weeks will come to Android soon. Features include the ability to shoot using the front facing camera, ability to tag or mention users in a video post, and Facebook sharing.

However, Android users, unlike IOS users, will be able to zoom on their videos.

The company also suggests that this is just the beginning of Vine's future on Android.

&quotWe have exciting plans for features that could exist only on Android,&quot the company said.
